Dr. Johannes OeldemannThe thematic introduction of Dr. Johannes Oeldemann, Director at the Johann-Adam-Möhler Institute for Ecumenics in Paderborn, gave an excellent overview of the development and background of the individual Orthodox and Unified Churches, followed by an analysis of the ecumenical dialogue among the churches. Subsequently, the seminar participants presented “their churches” by means of guiding questions and gave an insight into the Roman Catholic Church in Poland, the Unified Greek Catholic Church in Macedonia, the Orthodox Church in Ukraine as well as the Armenian-Apostolic Church. Finally, the situation of the Melkite Church in Syria was discussed, a church that still uses Aramaic, the language of Jesus.

GottesdienstMorning meditations and the celebration of the holy mass shaped the spiritual part of the seminar as well as a Byzantine devotion to Maria, Mother of God. The seminar participants contributed with chants and prayers to this unique and intense experience.
