Fr Dr Hans Langendörfer SJ

Hans Langendörfer was born in Bonn in 1951. He entered the Society of Jesus in 1972 and was ordained as a priest in 1979. He received his doctorate on security policy issues under Franz Böckle and, after a period as a scientific advisor in the Office of the Federal Chancellor, established the European Department in the Secretariat of the German Bishops’ Conference. From 1996 until January 2021, he was its secretary as well as managing director of the Association of the Dioceses of Germany (VDD). Since his stay at Georgetown University, the Jesuit has remained connected to the international academic world and the promotion of science through involvement in projects and lectures on numerous trips.

Langendörfer speaks several languages. He sees KAAD as a service to young academically highly qualified elites of decision-makers in the context of the world church. He has extensive connections in the political, economic, media and church environment and wishes to make these links fruitful for KAAD.
