Middle East Unit – Our Program

The central aim of the KAAD's regional program for the Middle East is to promote development and local networks through scholarships, events and joint projects. This takes place in three areas: (1) The promotion of academic education, research and broadly understood cooperation. Linked to this is (2) the strengthening of Christian churches and communities and (3) the promotion of interreligious dialog and the meeting of social integration forces. The support is primarily aimed at Christians. In the spirit of sincere dialog, non-Christian applicants who are nominated by our church partners are also accepted into the scholarship program.

For this reason, the Middle East Department works intensively with alumni and alumnae and especially with the KAAD partner committees and organizations. For example, the partner committees are involved in the selection process when awarding scholarships and carry out important networking work on site.
