The largest KAAD seminar within the Africa Department brings together current and former scholars from three East African countries every year.

From 10 to 11 July 2023, the head of the Africa Department, Dr Marko Kuhn, together with two leaders of the Ethiopian KAAD network KASHA (KAAD Association of Scholars at the Horn of Africa) visited the Eparchy of Adigrat in northern Ethiopia.

The KAAD International Academy of 2023, which took place in Lublin, Poland, in early June (June 1-4), focused on the history of the region, starting from the present, under the title "Understanding the pain, enduring the tensions - Eastern Europe today".

With around 750 scholars, alumni and guests, the Cusanuswerk held its annual conference in Baarlo near Venlo (Netherlands) from June 2nd to 4th. The theme of the gathering was: "The Power of Helping - the Importance of Voluntary Commitment" and took place in cooperation with KAAD.

At the end of May, the head of KAAD's Asia Department, Dr Anselm Feldmann, travelled to Bangladesh and Thailand.

At the beginning of June, the annual Intercultural Workshop took place at the Kreuzberg Language Institute for the new KAAD scholarship holders who are attending the language course in Bonn.
