With around 750 scholars, alumni and guests, the Cusanuswerk held its annual conference in Baarlo near Venlo (Netherlands) from June 2nd to 4th. The theme of the gathering was: "The Power of Helping - the Importance of Voluntary Commitment" and took place in cooperation with KAAD.

At the end of May, the head of KAAD's Asia Department, Dr Anselm Feldmann, travelled to Bangladesh and Thailand.

At the beginning of June, the annual Intercultural Workshop took place at the Kreuzberg Language Institute for the new KAAD scholarship holders who are attending the language course in Bonn.

In order to approach this topic and reflect on experiences of violence in their home countries, 25 KAAD scholars and alumni from 15 countries traveled to Oświęcim (Auschwitz) in Poland from May 17th to 21st.

The linguistic diversity of the worldwide KAAD community is a specific feature that we would like to offer a scientific forum in this group.

We mourn the death of the founding director of KAAD, Walter Kiefer, who passed away on 27 April 2023 at the age of 94.
