Who can apply?
Candidates from countries in Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia with a good knowledge of German and a Catholic denomination (in exceptional cases also from another denomination, provided they are proposed by Catholic partners).
with a Bachelor's degree who wish to study for a Master's degree at a German university (max. 24 months). Tuition fees for fee-based Master's programs can be funded in justified exceptional cases.

Students in Master's degree programs in their home country who are planning a study visit (up to 6 months) to collect material at a university in Germany.
Scholarships are awarded for all subjects (with the exception of theological courses, please contact Renovabis).
Young researchers who are aiming to complete a doctorate in Germany (max. 36 months)
Young academics who are working on a doctorate or habilitation in their home country and are planning a research stay in Germany (up to twelve months)

What does KAAD expect from you?
- Above-average performance potential for your studies or research,
- the orientation of studies or research towards permanent reintegration in your home region (otherwise the scholarship is considered a loan),
- Church and social commitment or willingness to engage in interreligious dialog
- German language skills of at least level B1 (or at least A2 for English-language degree programs) to participate in our mandatory educational program. Preparatory German courses in the home country are expected. In addition, it is possible to apply for a language course (full-time or part-time).
