Portraits of the Hermann Weber Scholars

The Hermann Weber Scholarship was established on the occasion of the retirement of Dr Hermann Weber, who served as Secretary General for many years. It recognizes outstanding doctoral candidates who have distinguished themselves not only through their excellent academic achievements, but also through their social and ecclesiastical commitment. The scholarship thus specifically strengthens the KAAD's guiding principle of combining academic education with social responsibility.

It was donated by the Colombian KAAD alumnus Professor Helmuth M. Gallego Sánchez. Out of deep gratitude for the support he received during his studies in Germany from the KAAD and in particular from Hermann Weber , he is using this scholarship as a symbol of a living bond.

The recipients of the Hermann Weber Scholarship act as bridge builders in their societies. They contribute their academic expertise, their personal convictions and their social commitment to shaping a future based on solidarity and responsibility – in the spirit of the KAAD and its global community.
