KAAD in the Near and Middle East

The Middle East unit covers the countries of North Africa and the Near and Middle East. These are countries where the majority of the population is Muslim and the national language is mostly Arabic. A total of around 15 million people of various Christian denominations live there as a minority population. Our focus countries in this region are Egypt, Israel/Palestinian Territories, Lebanon, Jordan and Syria. Sustainability, social justice, development, social well-being, peace, interreligious and intercultural dialog and a vibrant church are key issues in the Middle East department. The department is involved in the work of KAAD and the other departments on these topics and with regard to funding, and works intensively with local partners.
