The KAAD in Latin America

The Latin America Department of the KAAD is committed to building a sustainable network of Catholic academics and scientific institutions in the region. The aim is to promote international academic exchange and to sustainably strengthen cooperation between Latin American and German church and church-related structures.
At the same time, the department's scholarship program sees itself as a targeted contribution to the promotion of local civil society structures. It is based on the guiding principle of the Latin American church: the priority option for the poor.

KAAD congratulates Fr Dr Carlos Ignacio Man Ching SJ on his appointment as Rector of the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador. His professional career combines academic work, pastoral responsibility and international networking - and illustrates in a special way the impact of our alumni in their home countries.
