In December 2008, KAAD established the "KAAD Foundation Peter Hünermann" under the umbrella of the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart, which is named after the first founder, the long-standing President (1985-2002) and Honorary President of KAAD. The foundation is intended to support the educational and alumni work of the association, in particular professional networking, and primarily takes up the initiatives of alumnae, alumni and scholarship holders that could not be financed within the regular budget.
The KAAD-Stiftung has been awarding an annual prize in cooperation with partner committees and alumni associations since 2011. It is awarded to KAAD alumnae or alumni who have returned to their home country and who have made outstanding academic achievements of social relevance and/or (voluntary) civic or church commitment.
