Dr. Nora Kalbarczyk

*1984, Ph.D.

Studied Islamic Studies and German Language and Literature in Berlin and Cairo with a scholarship from the Friedrich Ebert Foundation. After earning her master’s degree, she served as a research assistant in a German-British research project (Ruhr University Bochum/University of Cambridge) and received her doctorate in 2016 with a dissertation on Arab-Islamic legal hermeneutics. Subsequently served as an Islamic studies consultant at the Christian-Islamic Encounter and Documentation Center (CIBEDO), the German Bishops’ Conference’s specialized office for Christian-Islamic dialogue.

From November 2017 to February 2021, she was head of the Near and Middle East Department at KAAD; from 2019 to 2021, she served as deputy secretary general of KAAD.

Since March 2021, Secretary General of KAAD.
