Fr Dr Hans Langendörfer SJ

Hans Langendörfer was born in Bonn in 1951. He joined the Jesuit order in 1972 and was ordained a priest in 1979. He completed his doctorate on security policy issues under Franz Böckle and, after a period as a scientific advisor in the Federal Chancellery, set up the European Department in the DBK Secretariat. From 1996 to January 2021, he was its secretary and managing director of the Association of German Dioceses (VDD). Since his time at Georgetown University, the Jesuit has remained connected to the international academic world and the promotion of science through his involvement in projects and lectures on numerous trips.

Langendörfer speaks several languages. He sees KAAD as a service to a young, academically highly qualified elite with responsibility in the context of the global church. He is widely networked in the political, economic, media and church environment and would like to make these connections fruitful for KAAD.
