Aram Simonyan

Aram Simonyan is an associate professor at the International Scientific Education Centre of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia. As chair of the department, he is in charge of the associated economics department. The aim of his work is to ensure academic integrity, create administrative transparency and improve internationalisation in his department. His academic activities aim to draw the attention of academics and policy makers to IS, i.e. problems at the individual and institutional level, and to look for ways to curb it. To this end, he analysed economic and sociological perspectives on the nature of corruption and ways to prevent it. Like many other countries, Armenia has a massive problem with corruption. In Transparency International 's evaluation, Armenia achieved a Corruption Perceptions Index score of 46 points in 2022, placing it 63rd out of 180 countries analysed. In addition to his research, Aram Simonyan teaches and supervises Master's students, allowing them to benefit from the knowledge and experience he has gained during his numerous research visits.

Aram Simonyan has been funded by the KAAD several times: in 2016 and 2019, he completed six-month research stays at the University of Siegen and the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel; from 2021 to 2023, he conducted research on "Fighting Corruption Through Unbundling Individuals' Corruption Perception" with a KAAD scholarship at the University of Regensburg . Before returning to Armenia in July 2023, Aram Sim onyan was invited to speak at the international conference of the Global Young Academy in Rwanda. Aram Simonyan is also a member of the International Scientific Education Centre Armenia (ISEC).
