Eduardo Luis Kronbauer was the first recipient of the newly created Hermann Weber Scholarship in 2021. Born in Porto Alegre, Brazil, he completed his doctorate in law at the University of Freiburg with a special focus on the interrelationships between natural law and legal positivism. This placed him at the interface between law and philosophy - a field that is not only of academic interest to him, but also of social relevance.
Eduardo Kronbauer initially studied law at the renowned Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUC/RS), where he stood out early on as a particularly talented student. After working in legal practice, particularly in the field of tax law, he completed a Master's degree and finally decided to do a doctorate in Germany. His academic career is characterized by a dual focus: academic depth and the desire to contribute to shaping fair social structures.
Eduardo Kronbauer uses his stay in Freiburg not only to work on his dissertation, but also to participate intensively in lectures, seminars and discussion events. This demonstrates his remarkable determination and openness. He was also actively involved in the Edith Stein Catholic University Community in Freiburg and thus lived the integrative spirit that the KAAD supports in its educational and promotional work.
The award of the Hermann Weber Scholarship to Eduardo Kronbauer recognizes not only his academic excellence, but also his personality and attitude. At the same time, it underlines the fruitful, long-standing relationship between the KAAD and the PUC/RS in southern Brazil - a partnership based on shared values and a deep bond in educational work.
