In recent years, the image of a Catholic Church in need of renewal has deepened in the German public arena. The so-called Synodal Path, which began in 2019, was intended to identify the structural aspects underlying the power abuse crisis and propose solutions for further development. In order to bring the numerous global church perspectives into the debate, the KAAD and the IWM initiated the empirical project "Synodal Way - Global Church Perspective", the results of which have now been published. The contributions by academics from various regions of the world collected in this publication have emerged primarily from the forum of the international conference. They fit into the current dynamic of church developments and support efforts to reach an understanding on various levels as well as the development of a culture of dialogue:
