Relocation of the KAAD Office – A New Beginning on Königstraße in Bonn

|   Aktuelles

After four decades, the KAAD has moved its office in Bonn from Hausdorffstraße to new premises on Königstraße.

Since 1986, the building on Hausdorffstraße has served as the main office location and, for many years, has been a familiar landmark for staff, scholarship recipients, and guests from both Germany and abroad. Numerous meetings, sessions, and discussions took place in the historic building, which, with its staircase, sloping ceilings, and spacious library, shaped the image of the office for a long time.

The location on Hausdorffstraße was also closely linked to the work of the KAAD in Bonn: just a few minutes away lies Bonn’s Kreuzberg district, where many KAAD grantees were housed during their language courses until 2023. For many scholarship recipients, a visit to the office was therefore one of the first experiences of their study stay in Germany. The office

was also a regular meeting place during the Annual Academy. During guided tours, guests gained insight into the work of the KAAD. Spanning three floors, works of art by scholarship recipients from various decades served as a reminder of the organization’s international community.

The move out of Hausdorffstraße marks the end of a chapter in KAAD’s work in Bonn that spanned over four decades. The office has now moved into new premises on Königstraße in Bonn’s Südstadt district. The neighborhood is characterized by its proximity to the University of Bonn and its institutes and has long been regarded as a hub of academic exchange.

With the move, the office’s workspaces have also been reorganized. The offices are now located on a single floor. This facilitates coordination between departments and allows ongoing work processes to be more closely integrated.

The new address of the office is
Königstraße 86,
53115 Bonn.

We look forward to the discussions, ideas, and projects that will take shape here.
