KAAD's Priority Countries in Africa
Our program for sub-Saharan Africa focuses on both development and research-oriented funding. The goal is to empower young
researchers who have already assumed leadership roles in the church and society to continue doing so with even greater expertise.
These scholarships benefit talented students from low-income families. The goal is to support so-called “agents of change” who, through their academic qualifications, can assume leadership roles in society, the academic world, and the church.
KAAD’s priority countries in Africa are: Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, andZimbabwe. Uganda and Tanzania, along with Kenya, are also part of the East Africa priority region. There are four partner organizations that are also responsible for the neighboring countries of the priority countries.
In the priority countries of Ghana, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Zimbabwe, the S1 program also offers scholarships for on-site master’s degree programs (Sur Place scholarships). The local scholarship recipients and those returning from Germany form alumni associations supported by KAAD.
