Maysoon Kheir, who comes from the north of Israel, initially worked as a nursing assistant at the Nave Hagalil Hospital in Peqi'in after leaving school, where she laid the necessary financial foundations for her subsequent studies in biomedical sciences at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. After completing her studies, her many years of involvement in development policy and social work, as well as further training and courses in communication, peace and conflict resolution, led her to change career direction and take up a position as director of the Arabic department at the Bible Lands Museum in Jerusalem. There, Maysoon Kheir, who as an Arab Drusin belongs to a minority among the minorities in her home country, dealt intensively with Islam, Christianity and Judaism and carried out projects to promote understanding between the religions. She subsequently decided to study peace and conflict research in Germany and was supported by a scholarship from the KAAD. During her time in Germany, Maysoon also became involved in her home region: she completed an internship with an organisation that brings together parents from different population groups in Israel and the Palestinian territories who have lost children as a result of the conflict.

After graduating from Philipps University Marburg, Maysoon immediately returned to Israel and became the national coordinator of a project in Jerusalem dedicated to the weakest of the weak in this divided country: people with disabilities. Against the backdrop of the conflict, the aim of this project is to improve the living conditions of people with disabilities. After a decision by the US Congress in 2019 led to the cancellation of funding from the U.S. Agency for International Development for Palestinians, which was also used to fund this project, Maysoon worked in refugee projects outside her home country, including for the UN Refugee Agency UNHCR in Chad. After completing the project in Chad in 2023, she is now working again for a non-governmental organisation in Israel that supports refugees and people with disabilities.
