At a meeting on 07 March at the KAAD office in Bonn, both organisations confirmed their interest in working together in the area of promoting qualified academics. To this effect a cooperation agreement was signed by Fr. Dr Hans Langendörfer SJ, President of KAAD, and Professor Dr Bernd Engler, President of the Görres-Gesellschaft.
The cooperation intends to link the international KAAD community with a German science organisation through exchange, events and seminars. For this purpose, our specialist groups are to cooperate with corresponding sections of the Görres-Gesellschaft. Thus, our specialist group "Global Health" can join forces with the "Medicine" section of the Görres-Gesellschaft, the specialist group "Religion in Dialogue" with the Görres sections "Religious Studies" and "Knowledge of the Christian Orient" and our specialist group "Peace and Justice" with the section "Law and Political Science" of the Görres-Gesellschaft. In addition, our scholarship holders are invited to participate in the events and conferences of the society's promotion of young scientists. In return, members of the Görres-Gesellschaft are invited to our workshops, seminars and to our Annual Conference. Last but not least, KAAD will bring members of the Görres-Gesellschaft who are interested in international cooperation with KAAD's focus countries into contact with our partners and alumni.
